Precious Time with Hideyoshi, My Comforting Companion at Home
Hello everyone, this is Sushi Hatake. Today, I’d like to share something a little different—a story about the special time I spend with my beloved cat when I return to my family home in Gifu.
A Familiar Face Waiting for Me in Gifu
Every time I go back to my hometown in Gifu, Hideyoshi is always there waiting for me with his gentle presence. His beautiful orange and white fur hasn’t changed since the days we lived together at home. When I see him relaxing by the tin wall, it feels as if he’s saying, “Welcome back.” It instantly soothes my heart.
And his signature sleepy-eyed expression—it's like he’s telling me, “Long time no see, but everything’s just the same.” That peaceful gaze always helps me forget the noise and stress of the city.
Bridging Two Worlds: Gifu and Tokyo
I move back and forth between two very different worlds: the fast-paced life in Tokyo and the quiet calm of my hometown. And just like the changing seasons, I repeatedly experience the joy of reuniting with Hideyoshi and the sadness of saying goodbye.
Though this visit was short—just from the day before yesterday to today—my time with Hideyoshi refreshed my heart. Tomorrow, I return to work in Tokyo, but I’ll carry the peace he gave me with me.
Connected Even When Apart
It’s always a little sad to live apart from a beloved pet, but that distance makes our reunions even more precious. Every time I look at a photo of Hideyoshi, I feel like he’s telling me, “Come see me again soon.” And I already look forward to my next visit.
Do you have someone or something you love from afar? Even if we’re physically apart, our hearts stay connected. That thought alone makes everyday life feel richer.
Countryside Vibes and Sushi in the City
The natural beauty of Gifu and the refined environment of Tokyo—they’re total opposites. But I believe moving between these two worlds gives my sushi a unique character.
Just like Hideyoshi's calm energy and the sharp attention to detail required in Tokyo, I blend both qualities into my own sushi-making style.
In Closing
Today, I said goodbye again to my hometown and to Hideyoshi. Though I feel a little lonely, I look forward to the next time we meet. That feeling of “we’ll meet again” adds color and hope to our lives.
